Son of a farmer, born in a hamlet Sankaranahalli, Harapanahalli taluk, then Bellary District now Davanagere district in the year 1933. Primary education in neighbouring villages (oora-shale) and Middle school in Kondajji, Kakkara-gala and Harihar town, High School and Intermediate in Davanagere, M.B.B.S in Mysore Medical College and M.S in Lucknow University.

Married in the year 1961 in Shimoga and wife Smt. S.N.Chandramma is a housewife and have got lovable daughter Dr. S.B. Pushpa, who is Anaesthetist in London Hospital and First son Dr. S.B. Ramesh Babu Surgeon in charge of Hillside Hospital and other two Hospitals, Second son Dr. S.B. Umesh Babu is a Professor of Prosthodontics, Dental College and looking after Hillside Group of Institution and last son Dr. S.B. Harish Babu, is a Dentist and also Director of Hillside Public Schools.

Academic & Professional Service

Joined State Medical Service in 1959 as Asst. Surgeon. Later selected to teaching posts in Government Medical Colleges and served as Lecturer, Asst. Professor, Reader and professor in various Government Medical Colleges and also gained Administrative experience as Deputy Director of Medical Education. Served as Member Secretary and Member of M.B.B.S Selection Committee between 1977-1980.

Academic services-founder member of Surgical Society of Bangalore. Served as a Member and Executive Committee Member of Medical Council of India from 1980 to 1996 and Karnataka Medical Council from 1980 till date.

Assisted Backward Class Commission of Karnataka

Commission experience- Assisted 1st Backward Class Commission of Karnataka headed by Mr.L.G. Hananur between 1972-1975. As a member of 2nd Backward Class Commission of Karnataka headed by Justice O.Chinnappa Reddy from 1990-1991. As expert Advisor on Castes and Communities of India to 2nd Backward Class Commission of India headed by Mr.B.P.Mandal. Served in many social organizations of Karnataka State and at all India level.

Awards & Honours

Award - B.C. Roy National Award for Socio-Medical Services for 1994 from President of India. Institution- Serving as chairman of Bheemchandra Education trust, running few Educational Institutions and Upper Balaga Trust, which established one community hall, two hostel in the state for poor deserving students.

Honour- Honoured by Sri Sri Pramukh Swamiji of Swamy Narayana Sanstha during Ambruth Mohatsava celebrated in the year 1995 at Bombay. Honoured from the California State Senate and also Corporation of San-fransisco in the year 2001 in America by the blessings of Sri Sri Pramukh Swamiji.

Hobbies

Study of Indian Castes and Communities, religions and different reces by collecting the abundant data and facts for the past 4 to 5 decades from various Census Reports and also various Historical and Religious Books, which helped not only the Commission works but also to write this Historic Book.
